Chance to bid for a bargain as ex-display furniture auctioned

-

AFTER going into administration last month, Sofa Workshop’s ex-display showroom furniture is about to be auctioned off.

John Pye auction house in Port Talbot will be hosting the bidding for a huge selection of the sofas, chairs, tables and other furniture.

Sofa Workshop was put into administration at the end of March, leaving hundreds of ex-display items available for auction. The stock being sold used to be on display at the chain’s five London stores and 11 regional locations at Bath, Bristol, Chichester, Guildford, Harrogate, Manchester, Newbury, Nottingham, St Albans, Thurrock and Tunbridge Wells.

Bidding is already available for items at John Pye’s site in Chesterfield, while viewing is available for furniture at the John Pye facilities in Port Talbot and Marchington. Viewing begins for the Port Talbot sofas on Monday between 9am and noon. The items are available for collection only.

Trevor Palethorpe, joint head of business and property at John Pye Auctions, said: “While it’s always sad to see a national retailer close its doors, it does offer the consumer a rare opportunity to purchase high-quality furniture at a big discount, while also avoiding the massive delivery waiting times that have become the norm over the last two years. With us, once you have won, you can come and collect within 24 hours of payment.”

He added: “Recognised brand names such as Sofa Workshop always attract huge interest from bidders, and there’s no doubt customers that regularly keep track of our web pages will be quick to bid for this stock. We advise moving early to secure these special items at discounted prices.”
