SUMMER in Swansea is not complete without a trip on the Swansea Bay Rider land train and now it’s back for 2022.

Adults and children alike can enjoy amazing views of Swansea Bay from the 72-seater land train that trundles along the Swansea prom.

The land train, easily spotted by its red and black colouring and classic train look, began operating again last Saturday and will run every weekend until Sunday, September 4. The train will also operate every day during the school holidays from Monday, May 30, to Friday, June 3, and from Friday, July 15, to Sunday, September 4.

A hop-on hop-off standard ticket is £5.50, for under-16s, students and senior citizens it’s £4.50, and for a family of two adults and two children a family ticket costs £13.

The train runs from Blackpill to Southend in Mumbles and then back, from Southend to Blackpill, as passengers can enjoy the Mumbles seafront from the comfort of the train.

The first train leaves Blackpill at 10.30am and all trains stop at West Cross, Norton, Oystermouth, Village Lane and Southend.

The first train arrives at Southend at 11am and the first train to depart Southend, heading back to Blackpill, leaves at 11am.

After that the train runs from Blackpill at 11.30am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm.

The train departs from Southend at 12pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm and 5.30pm.

The Swansea Bay Rider is accessible to wheelchair users and dogs are allowed on the train if on a lead and under control.

The train is not the only summer event and activity happening in Swansea this spring and summer as the Swansea Bay Pop Up food festival is back and a new indoor and outdoor carting track is coming to Gower.
