CAN COOPER PERSUADE SWANS LOAN STAR CYRUS HIS FUTURE IS AT FOREST?
NOTTINGHAM Forest are reportedly keen to re-sign Cyrus Christie from under the noses of Swansea. Christie spent the second half of last season on loan in South Wales from parent club Fulham.
He is out of contract with the Londoners this summer, and head coach Russell Martin is keen to bring him back to SA1, such was his impact during his time here.
But the news that former club Forest have entered the mix won’t be helpful. Steve Cooper’s side could, potentially, offer the 29-year-old Premier League football next season and the riches that go with it.
Sky Sports report that the City Ground club and Watford have included him on their lists of potential recruits this summer, and that he also has interest from Turkish Champions League hopefuls Konyaspor and Fenerbahce.
Christie teased his future plans when signing off his Swansea stint with a message on Instagram. He wrote: “It’s not how we wanted to end the season but it has been an absolute pleasure to represent @swansofficial this season.
“Big thank you to everyone at this club from the management to the backroom staff and the players that made me and my family feel welcome from day one. It was an honour to play alongside a great group of players.
“Also big shout out to the Jack Army you showed me nothing but love and support from day one and made my time at this club even better.
“Big love to my partner, my baby girl Amaya and my family and friends for all your support this season.
“None of this would have been possible without you all. Now time to recharge and see what the future holds.” ■ Yesterday marked 12 years since the passing of former Swansea City player Besian Idrizaj.
The Austrian was just 22 when he died due to a heart problem, a tragic occurrence that sent shockwaves around the club and city.
“Everyone in the squad is stunned,’’ then Swans skipper Garry Monk said at the time.
“It’s just a numb feeling. Nobody can quiet believe what’s happened. We’ve always been a close-knit squad at Swansea. We are a tight family and at the moment it feels like we’ve lost a brother. He was a lovely lad and he’ll always be with us in our hearts.’’

He has long been on Swansea and Martin’s wishlist, with the pair having worked together during the head coach’s time with MK.
Swansea remain keen on the ballplaying centre-back and are certainly in the market for one this summer.

Former Swansea defender Connor Roberts says it’s shame Joe Rodon doesn’t play much for Tottenham.
Roberts was speaking ahead of Burnley’s trip to Spurs yesterday afternoon,a game which finished 1-0 to the North London outfit. Rodon was brought on for the dying minutes of the clash.
Rodon has been an almost permanent bench fixture since manager Antonio Conte arrived in North London and rumours of a move this summer are plentiful.
A lack of game-time for a player with such talent must be frustrating,
for the player and for his international boss Rob Page.
Roberts recognises that as well, while he also paid a compliment to fellow Wales defender and former Swan Ben Davies.
Roberts said: “We beat them at Turf Moor, and we had a chat with them (Rodon and Davies). It’s a shame my mate Joe doesn’t play much for Spurs, but Ben is obviously an unbelievable player. We know his quality.
“It’s been a tough season but we are still in with a chance, and over the last four or five games we’ve shown that we can win games and we do pick up points.”
