TV star’s Welsh ‘happy place’
ALEX JONES was left feeling emotional as she opened up about her “all-time favourite destination” and her family’s “happy place” in a recent interview.
The One Show presenter appeared on The Travel Diaries podcast with Holly Rubenstein to talk all things travel, but despite her globetrotting adventures, the 47-year-old kept coming back to Wales.
The Welsh star, who hails from Ammanford, spoke of her love of coastal France, her first holiday with husband Charlie Thomson in Italy, and a job in the ranches of Arizona that left her changed forever, but the mum-of-three admitted her heart is in Pembrokeshire. Alex explained that the Welsh coast captured her from an early age, with much of her childhood spent travelling Pembrokeshire with her mum, dad, and sister in their VW caravanette.
Near the end of the interview, Alex was asked what her all-time favourite destination was, with the presenter choking back tears over her love of Pembrokeshire and how much it means to her.
She said: “I’m going to say Pembrokeshire in West Wales is one because it’s a place we’ll keep going back to forever, it’s the place where I want my children to find that connection with Wales, it’s really important to me.”
Fighting tears, Alex added: “I mean, they are English of course, and they have grown up in West London, but that’s the place where I want them to feel like it’s somewhere special and look back at in years to come and think .... god it makes me emotional, that they had lots of happy times there.”
