PROBUS PRESIDENT

I WOULD like to tell Visiter readers that Brian Forshaw will shortly be welcomed by Birkdale Probus as its president for the coming season.

Having served as vice president and speaker’s secretary, Brian will be leading the club into the new programme in June. Probus is a group of retired men who meet at 10.30am on the second and fourth Monday at the Royal Clifton Hotel.

A varied programme of talks from our own members and from outside speakers takes place, including time for questions, coffee or tea break and a chat.

WELL DONE, WELDONS

VISITING Southport a couple of weeks ago, we enjoyed a leisurely walk round your elegant town. Whilst there, we purchased a ring from Weldons on Lord Street. The ring needed re-sizing, but still did not correctly fit on our return to collect it on Monday of this week.

As this was for a very special imminent anniversary, we were disappointed, but Weldons Jewellers pulled out all the stops and the ring is now in my possession, two days later, fitting like a glove.

Such personal service to ensure customer satisfaction is hard to find in 2016, and I would like publicly to express my gratitude to the staff of Weldons Jewellers for their professional and swift service. Southport should be proud of them! Carol Jenkinson via email
