Celebrating 63 years
WITH the nation’s high streets dominated by giant corporations and chain stores, it’s incredibly rare to find a family business that’s still going strong after 63 years.
Operating from the same site since 1953, Mosscrop Cycles on Bispham Road in Southport is one of the oldest and most well-established cycle shops in the North West.
Gary Mosscrop, the shop’s owner, wants the store to maintain a trusted place among Southport’s locals despite competition from the high street giants and online shopping.
He said: “There’s so much online competition these days.
“We try to look after our locals and our regulars, and keep up the family service that we’ve always provided.”
Mosscrop Cycles caters to all customers, from cycling enthusiasts to novices from across the local surrounding areas.
It specialises in bike sales and repairs, as well as a range of all cycle accessories, clothing and luggage.
Gary added: “We cater for everybody.
“We’ve got everything from kids’ bikes to mountain bikes and really high quality road bikes.”
Being a family-run independent business allows Mosscrop Cycles to offer its customers a wealth of specialist knowledge and advice about all aspects of cycling.
Its expert staff take their time to ensure customers find the perfect item to suit their individual needs, offering a friendly and efficient service.
Gary believes that Mosscrop Cycles’ unique selling point is its expertise, and commitment to offering a personal service to every customer.
He said: “The big companies just don’t have the depth of knowledge we have.”
Mosscrop Cycles can also help customers find out more about their local Cycle to Work scheme, keeping Southport moving in an environmentally friendly and healthy way.
The shop offers competitive prices, and will always try its utmost to find an item requested by a customer.
Whether it’s a child’s first bike, or a specialist bit of kit, Mosscrop Cycles prides itself on offering a personal service guided by decades of expertise.
