Garden opens to help care charities blossom

-

JOHN and Elizabeth Caunce will be opening their garden in Tarleton to the public for the third year this summer, to raise money for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

As part of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS), the couple will welcome guests to enjoy their beautiful gardens on June 4-5 and July 2-3.

Spread across one acre, the Caunces’ garden sympathetically combines lawns, borders, wild flowers, water features and raised vegetable beds.

Along with homemade cakes, tea and wine, live music will add a special touch to the occasion with a ukulele band play- ing on June 4 and a brass band to join in the fun on June 5, and July 2-3.

Set up in 1927, the National Gardens Scheme is a means for people to open up their gardens in support of nursing and caring charities. As a cause close to their hearts, John and Elizabeth have decided to support Clatterbridge once again.

Elizabeth said: “Like so many, people close to us have been affected by cancer. Ten years ago, Clatterbridge gave such excellent care to a close friend of ours who under- went treatment for breast cancer. This is a wonderful way for us to be able to give something back. We’re delighted to give our support to this amazing hospital.”

Since they first opened their garden under the scheme in 2014, the couple have raised an incredible £3,300 for the charity. They hope this year’s event will help bump that total even higher.

John and Elizabeth’s garden will be open from 11am5pm.

Admission is £3.50 for adults and children are free. The garden is wheelchair accessible and parking is available. Becconsall, Hunters Lane, Tarleton Moss, Tarleton. PR4 6JL.
