Southport Visiter

Head-to-head in a triathlon contest

-

THESE two headteachers at a primary school in Southport have gone head to head in a dramatic Road To Rio triathlon challenge.

Mrs Payne and Mrs Taylor set off from Churchtown Primary School on St Cuthbert’s Road in a sprint start before running, cycling and swimming their way to Olympic glory through Churchtown and Marshside in this hilarious video.

It was part of the school’s annual Do Something Funny For Money week, which has seen staff and students take part in fundraising events as they raised money for the Community Link Foundation and Sport Relief.

It’s the second great comedy video produced by the school, after staff starred in a Road To Rio music video to Wham’s hit Wake Me Up Before You Go Go.

Helping them on their way during their fundraising was TV funnyman Paddy McGuinness.

He sent Churchtown Primary a special message: “Hello, it’s Paddy McGuinness! Churchtown Primary School are on the road to Rio 2016. Get walking some more miles you lot, get stuck in!”

The school took some pupils to meet band The Proclaimers. Their message read: “This is The Proclaimers and this message goes out to Churchtown Primary. We understand you’re walking 5,000 miles to Rio to raise money for Comic Relief. We wish everybody the very best of luck.” The school won a Southport Visiter Your Heroes Award earlier this year for fundraising efforts.
