Flower Show set for ‘garden spectacular’

-

THE 2016 Southport Flower Show will feature even more spectacular garden designs than last year.

A total of 19 purposebuilt show gardens have been confirmed for the 2016 event – the highest number in recent years.

The event is renowned for its show gardens, giving top designers the space and opportunity to explore their most extravagant ideas.

Award-winning growers Lovania Nurseries are among the designers, with their show garden titled ‘Outdoor Inspiration’; designed to include different walks of family life outdoors from alfresco dining, and entertaining, to grow your own.

Ray Roukin, general manager of Southport Flower Show, said: “We are delighted by the high number of show gardens this year – it’s a show garden spectacular.

“We are especially pleased to see a garden design from Andy Kirman with his ‘A Mediterranean Garden.’

“Andy was a winner of our student garden competition many years ago and it’s great to see that he has gone on to real success in the gardening world since.”

As well as the show gardens, this year the show will feature their first baking and preserve competition in the honey marquee.

Mr Roukin added: “With the growth in amateur bee keeping and preserve making we’ve decided to launch a baking and preserve competition at the show. .

“Prizes are available and I’d encourage anyonene with an interest or talent to enter.”

Southport Flower Show w runs from August 18–21, with celebrity chef Ainsleyey Harriott opening the event.
