Fleet sail to another victory

-

FLEETWOOD HESKETH recorded their third successive victory in the league seeing off lowly Maghull last Saturday,

The home side lost the toss and were put into bat but they recorded one of their biggest scores so far this season to put them in command.

“We batted first and did really well,” said vice-captain Lee Bolton.

“We scored 157 which has been one of the highest scores for us at home in the league even though it’s not a massive total.

“Our bowlers did well again in the field and it was a good win in the end. We won by over 50 runs so it was a good game.”

Bolton also had lots of praise for his bowling attack, who have performed well in recent weeks to help the team climb uo to second place in the league.

Marasinghe Perera, one of their top bowlers, took six Maghull wickets as Daniel Murphy and Owen Lloyd-Drummond chipped in with two each.

“It’s massive for the bowlers to do well,” said Bolton.

“If they get an early wicket and look bright at the start, it can help build momentum up for the rest of the game.

“They’ve done really well so far so hopefully they can keep that going.”

This Saturday, Fleetwood Hesketh head to Wigan in a top-of-thetable clash.

“They’re obviously top and we’re in second so it’s a huge game for us,” said Bolton.

“They’ve got a really good batsman in their side – he’s one of the best in the league and he’ll be their main man.

“Hopefully we can keep him quiet and he won’t cause us too many problems. If our bowlers do well then we should be fine.

“Danny Murphy can bowl in all the right areas and put the pressure on and our other bowlers are great too so we’ll always back them.”
