FLANNELS, one of the UK’s leading luxury retailers, is to open a new store in Southport. The franchise stocks premier brands for men and women, including glamorous shoe specialist Jimmy Choo, Canada Goose, Hugo Boss, Moschino and Vivienne Westwood Man.

Grant Tindell, from Southport, who currently works at the Liverpool branch, will be assistant manager of the Southport store. He said: “It’s an exciting time.

“Myself and four others were previously having to commute to the Liverpool store, but we’re all moving over, and we will be recruiting a lot of people from the town.

“This type of high-end store is just what Southport needs.”

Southport Business Improvement District (BID) manager Andrew Sloman added: “This premium brand will be a very welcome addition to the town’s retail offer. We’re very excited to see how the Sports Direct complex develops and this can only be good news for Tulketh Street, Chapel Street and Eastbank Street.”

It is expected people will shortly be able to apply for a variety of positions at the store, which looks likely to open in a few months. The store will open on Tulketh Street, next to the Sports Direct store and gymnasium.

Plans to transform the former Morrisons site on into a gym and retail unit were passed at the beginning of April.

Sports Direct’s planning application said: “The proposal comprises the creation of four units within the existing ground floor of the building to offer three retail stores and a gym.

“The car parking on the first and second floors will remain as it is.”

Flannels has been approached by the Visiter for comment.
