Actor Rohit beats his rivals to rule world
MR India beat the competition to take home the title of Mr World 2016 in a glittering Southport awards ceremony.
Rohit Khandelwal, 26, is an actor from the southern Indian city of Hyderabad. He claimed the ultimate prize from a field of 46 finalists representing their respective nations at the grand final held at the Floral Hall.
Upon winning the title, Rohit said: “I feel so privileged and humbled to be Mr World 2016.
“I would like to thank all my fans and all the people who have been giving me all their blessings.
“It is only your love and support that has been my inspiration to win Mr World 2016.
“It has been an amazing journey to this point, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.”
Narrowly missing out on the ultimate prize was Fernando Alvarez, 21, from Puerto Rico, with Aldo Esparza Ramírez, 26, from Mexico placing third.
After 12 days of fierce competition comprising five challenge events designed to test the qualities of “The World’s Most Desirable Man”, the Grand Final saw all the contestants take to the stage in front of a live audience to face the scrutiny of the panel of expert judges to determine who would be Mr World. After a recap of the gruelling challenges faced by the contestants, five challenge winners were selected to progress to the semi-final stage alongside five further contestants, taking the total semi-finalists to 10.
