Three more wins for the title
STEVE Maddocks believes his side are within touching distance from winning the league after another victory at the weekend.
Skelmersdale are flying at the top of the Liverpool Competition Division Two table and they won convincingly again on Saturday, defeating Southport Trinity by nine wickets.
Captain Maddocks is confident his side can win the league this season and he said the victory took them one game closer to achieving the feat.
“I think if we win three more games we’ll win the league,” said Maddocks.
“We look so balanced. This year we’ve really taken into account camaraderie and all the players stay after the games.
“There’s such a good team spirit and it’s really given us an edge this year. We’ve got a new signing joining us this week too.
“He’ll join us for the game this weekend and for the end of the season so we’re strengthening even more.”
Maddocks admitted it was another ‘routine’ win for his side against Southport Trinity and he’s hoping for more of the same this weekend.
“It was another comfortable win and we bowled them out fairly easily. Ryan Maloney had a great performance, taking five wickets off ten overs!
“It was routine. We were clinical. It was a nice day too and we bowled well and fielded brilliantly. It was a good weekend.
“Hightown St Mary’s have got an exZimbabwe test player in their side so he could be dangerous this weekend.
“However, if we perform the way we have been doing there won’t be a problem.”
