ATEAM of financial advisers from Southport have raised a massive £11,000 for a charity that makes the dreams of terminally ill children come true.

Staff from Wight Moss Waybased firm Premier Wealth Management set out to run 300km in under 10 hours.

The challenge was based around the Marine Lake in Southport, continually covering a 5km route to achieve the total distance.

On Friday August 12, all expectations were exceeded, with the team reaching their target within seven hours and 17 minutes.

Managing director Adrian Shandley, who also organises Southport’s Maddog 10K, said: “I’m really proud of everybody who completed this challenge, we really have some amazing staff within our company.

“It was a very hot and windy day so to have beaten our estimated time is marvellous.

“By the end of the day everybody was really shattered, with various aches, pains, blisters and lots of sunburn, but as a result of the generous support of clients, colleagues and friends, we raised a significant amount of money for a wonderful cause.”

Dreams Come True is a national children’s charity that works hard to enrich the lives of children and young people with serious and life-limiting conditions aged between two and 21 years old.

Over the last 26 years, the trust has fulfilled the dreams of more than 5,000 children and young people to meet their heroes, enjoy amazing experiences, visit special places and more.

For some, a dream is simply to enjoy everyday activities, and the charity also provides specialist items such as disability trikes, wheelchair swings, sensory equipment and technology.

Office manager Karen Morgan added: “We were all quite hesitant as to whether or not we would achieve such a big distance, but in the end we have really smashed our target!

“We all realise that we have made such an incredible difference to the lives of some very ill young people, and that makes it all worthwhile.”
