SOUTHPORT restaurants and cafés have begun to embrace the new Deliveroo service, just days after it launched in the town.

Deliveroo began oper- ating in Southport on Tuesday and already has 13 businesses signed up.

Those signed up include Italian restaurants, burger bars and steak houses and even a craft beer shop.

The company is an ondemand food delivery service that brings local res- taurant food to homes and offices.

Customers are able to order meals from leading locals, independents and restaurant chains, delivered to their door for a £2.50 delivery fee.

It launched in London in 2013 and is now in more than 70 cities around the world.

Caroline Hazlehurst, general manager at Deliveroo, said: “We’re extremely excited to be launching in Southport and we’re looking forward to bringing some of the town’s delicious dishes straight from the hands of local chefs to customers’ doors.

“Southport is a multicultural and prosperous area with a diverse range of restaurants and we have seen a real appetite for the service.

“We already have a number of great partners across the town and we are excited to expand and widen the variety of restaurants on offer to our customers in Southport over the course of the next year.”

The businesses signed up to Deliveroo are: Asiatique. The Bar & Burger Co. Chez Moi. Eighty Eight Bar & Brasserie. The Fig Bistro. Fylde Fish Bar. Gusto Trattoria. Pizza Express. Prezzo. Tap and Bottles. Tapper’s Cafe. Villaggio Cucina. Wilson’s Kitchen.
