POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a car was stolen from a home in Woodvale and crashed into a block of flats.

The car was taken from the address on Vale Crescent and was crashed into the side of a building in Crosby. Two males were then seen running from the incident.

The car’s owner, Laura Swaby, said it was believed the burglars used a hook through the letterbox of the house to pull the keys out. Laura, along with her nan and five-year-old daughter, Mia, was at home asleep at the time of the burglary.

She said: “I got a knock on my door at about two in the morning to say my car was crashed against a block of flats in Crosby. It’s horrible.

“In a way, I am just glad no-one came in the house because Mia was here. My nan has said if they had got in the house she wouldn’t want to live here any more.”

The car has been recovered and taken to a garage but suffered damage including a badly affected clutch and is likely to be written off.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “We got a report at around 11.20 last night that a white Mini One Convertible had been involved in an RTC on the junction of Blundellsands Road and Burbobank Road. Two males were involved and ran away from the scene. We attended and did a search of the area.

“No injuries have been reported in relation to the incident.

“We’ve done house-tohouse enquiries in the area and the neighbourhood team will follow that up today.

“We would urge anyone who has information to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
