Four new faces for Linnets

- BY EMMA SANDERS

BURSCOUGH have brought in four new recruits to try and add further experience and quality to the squad after suffering another defeat on Saturday.

Luck seems to be against David Powell’s side and despite a battling performance, Burscough were unable to claw back a goal to equalise against Kendal Town.

The Linnets suffered a 2-1 defeat in the cup as they continue to struggle this season but Powell hopes the arrival of a number of new faces will give his squad more options.

“We’ve got a few new players in and we’re pressing to bring in some more whenever we can. I’m trying to bring in some players with Evo-Stik experience,” said Powell.

“I’m currently pushing to bring in an experienced defender and midfielder. There have been a few set– backs this week but hopefully we can bring them in.

“We’ve already got Paul Foy in – he’s a winger from Stalybridge Celtic and has come to us on loan.

“Mason Nevitt is also with us and he’s a good forward option.

“Mason’s brother Elliot already plays for us but Mason is bit older and has some experience. He’s joined us from West Everton and came off the bench at half-time on Saturday and made a decent impact.

“Anthony Cato is a midfielder we’ve brought in from Skelmersdale and Declan Hill, is a 17 year-old centre-back who looks very good and mature for his age so has also been put on the first team books too.

“We’ll hopefully get them all on board for Saturday as we’ve got to try and get the season rolling sooner rather than later,” he added.

Powell admitted he was disappointed after the result last weekend and said his team were hard done by as they continued to work hard.

“It was hard. We played well again but things are just not going our way.

“That happens when you’re struggling”.

Burscough are preparing for their next clash against Glossop North on Saturday.
