STORAGE Hunters presenter and comedian Sean Kelly raised more than smiles at his Southport Comedy Festival performance.

The American star performed one of his famous auctions as part of the show at the Prince of Wales hotel, giving the proceeds to a five-yearold boy who has a rare muscle disorder.

Harry Halpin was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in September 2013, following concerns about his balance and mobility.

Duchenne is a severe muscle wasting disease caused by the lack of a vital protein called dystrophin.

The condition causes muscles to weaken over time leading to paralysis.

At present there is not a cure.

Funding is needed for research and treatments which could lengthen life expectancy and help find a cure.

Harry’s mum Rachel said: “Our whole world was turned upside down when we received the devastating news that Harry had Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

“Harry is a happy little boy who loves playing with his little sister Grace.

“He also loves swimming, playing with his Batman Lego, making cakes and being read a story – especially his favourite which is Harry and the Dinosaurs.”

Along with Harry’s dad, Gareth, Rachel set up the Help Harry Fund in 2014 – and on Saturday, highspeed funnyman Sean was able to raise more than £1,300 to the fund.

Rachel added: “Thank you to [Sean Kelly] for a great night and all who gave money to the auction for Harry’s fund.

“We’re truly overwhelmed, such a nice man.

“And thanks to Bren, Val and the team for the comedy festival’s support.”
