Tony celebrates 70th in fine style

THE owner of a popular Southport hair salon got a shock this weekend - when his staff surprised him with a 70th birthday party.

The team at Headlines Hair Salon surprised Tony Marriott when he arrived at The Lansdowne Restaurant in Southport on Sunday.

Tony was under the impression he was having a quite lunch with his wife, Lesley Marriott.

However, teams from his salons arranged a celebrator­y lunch, complete with a Headlines Hair birthday cake.

Tony reached the milestone age on Friday (October 21).

He opened his first Headlines hair salon in Southport in October 1968 and, today, has seven salons across Southport and West Lancashire. It was the first hairdressi­ng organisati­on in the UK to be awarded “Investor in People” status.

Local photograph­er, and friend of Tony’s, Angus Matheson was on hand to take pictures., and Tony’s family came along to help him cel- ebrate,ebrate too.too Adele Hames, who works in head office for the seven salons, organised the event, along with Philippa who works in the Birkdale salon. Adele said: “Tony is so kind and so generous and he always treats everybody, so we thought it was time he was treated for a change!

“Pip and I spoke to Lesley to arrange something and the Lansdowne seemed a perfect idea.

“A party of about 40 of us were there waiting for his arrival.

“His face was a picture when he saw us all - you should have seen him!”
