MEMBERS of a Birkdale gym will push themselves to the limit with a gruelling 24-hour sponsored workout to raise funds for Queenscourt Hospice.

Thirty gym members of The Fitness Lab Gym have already volunteered to push and pull the Prowler sled in relay from 6pm this Friday (November 4).

James Jones, owner and founder of The Fitness Lab said, “We wanted to do something fun and unusual.

“Queenscourt Hospice does so much good work in the community and we are pleased to help them continue to do so.”

He added: “My father spent some time there before he passed and received excellent care. It is a cause close to my heart.”

Queenscourt Hospice provides services for patients with serious illnesses, offering 24/7 care to its residents as well as a home visit service for less mobile patients. The hospice employs more than 100 staff, from doctors and healthcare assistants to physiotherapists and nurses.

Julie McAdam, community fundraiser at Queenscourt Hospice, said: “We can’t thank fundraisers like The Fitness Lab enough, we simply could not operate without them.

“We receive only one fifth of our funding from the NHS and that makes events like this all the more crucial to our survival.”

The Fitness Lab is still searching for more volunteers to take part in the event and welcomes all spectators who would like to cheer the members on and enjoy the party atmosphere.

A DJ will be playing on Friday night and a bar menu will be available.

Volunteers should go to www.fitness labgym.co.uk to contact James.

If you would like to donate you can do so at uk. virginmoneygiving. com/fitnesslab or donate directly using the Queenscourt Hospice buckets at the event.
