Don’t feel that you’re alone

-

WE’VE all felt lonely at some point in life.

For some, it’s a temporary feeling that we overcome, but for others it lingers and can seriously dent your confidence, as well as leave you feeling cut off.

If any readers are struggling with loneliness, we want to let you know that we are here.

We’re a local membership organisation that’s made up of people from all walks of life and ages.

We know all too well how many major life events, such as a relationship breakdown, bereavement, redundancy, retirement, declining health or being a carer can often lead to a sudden change in circumstances and prove difficult to adjust to.

So please, don’t feel that you’re alone. We run regular inexpensive events in the Southport and Formby areas for people to come along and enjoy some great company.

They’re nothing formal, just simple opportunities for local folk to come together, have a few laughs and, we hope, forge new friendships along the way.

We’re a really friendly bunch and would love to welcome you to one of our get-togethers.

We’re next meeting for a small coffee morning at The Lilac House coffee shop in Formby on December 13 at 10.30am.

If you’d like to come along, or you’d like to find out what else we have coming up, just give me a ring on 01704 545279 or email judith. catton@oddfellows.co.uk. Judith Catton

A&E WAITING TIMES

ON Tuesday, November 15, on the local evening TV news, it was reported an 11-hour delay in ambulance patients waiting to receive treatment in the emergency department.

A patient was interviewed who claimed to have been waiting 11 hours with a head wound and that it was stitched in a few minutes.

He also stated on two previous occasions he had walked out of the department and treated himself at home!

This really does beg the question should he have gone to the emergency department in the first place?

On those occasions is it not the case that the department is being swamped with inappropriate attenders? Which in turn is causing this backlog. Name and address supplied

TOO MANY CHIEFS?

YOU ask for views re hospital. There is never any reference in saving money by reducing the bloated management in all NHS hospitals, which is where all the problems lie.

“Too many chiefs and not enough Indians”, springs to mind.

Senior staff suspended on full pay for undisclosed gross negligence!

They are public servants and should not be protected by the Trust that’s supposed to look after patients’ interest, not their “mates”.

Generally all the civil service have secure gold-plated jobs, who cannot be sacked and have no incentive to work “hard”.

All caused by the Labour-led unions, bringing England to becoming a third world country. Disgruntled

HOSPITAL DESPAIR

RE your article in the Midweek.

I read this week of the Community and Urgent Care services that have just been removed from Southport & Ormskirk, and awarded to Virgin with despair.

It would seem that the Government is employing a slash and burn policy, criticise and diminish the NHS underfund it then privatise it.

Southport needs a general hospital for its inhabitants, its ageing population and its tourists.
