AN inspirational Southport woman has told the Visiter how losing a massive six stone has changed her life.

Dee Wright transformed her life by losing the weight and is using her success to shape a whole new career helping other people change their lives and achieve their weight loss dreams, too.

A family history of heart disease and giving birth to her daughter, Autumn, motivated Dee to get her eating habits under control and turn her life around.

“Since the birth of my daughter I’d wanted to get healthier so that I could be around for her for as long as possible, with a history of heart disease in my family I was worried about carrying so much weight. I hated photographs of me so would avoid being in front of the camera with her.

“I knew something had to change and I needed to take control of my eating.”

In June 2015 after years of being overweight and low in confidence Dee joined her local Slimming World group in Luton.

She has since moved back to Southport and trained to be a consultant after dropping from 16 stone 1lb to 10 stone.

“After losing over 6st and completing my training, it’s a privilege for me to be able to pass on the experience, insight and understanding that helped me, so that I can give my members the support they need to get to target.

“I remember the friendly welcome the first time I walked into the group. I’d seen other friends and colleagues lose weight with Slimming world and hoped it could help me too.

“As a single parent, working full time, evenings were a struggle for me to attend a group, so I found a morning class that I could attend on my day off and take my daughter along too, and never looked back.”

Dee credits sharing recipe ideas, learning tips from other members and making lasting friendships with others from her group as the route to her success at Slimming World.

“I thought I was destined to struggle with my weight for the rest of my life, but when I came to Slimming World it was different. I never felt like I was on a diet.”

Like Dee, Slimming World consultants are all former members who have lost weight at their local group themselves and groups are set up as micro businesses in the heart of local communities.

There are currently around 4,000 Slimming World Consultants across the UK and Ireland running 15,000 groups.

“Life is good and I’m so much happier now, I enjoy clothes shopping, getting active with my daughter and have much more confidence. I’m starting 2017 feeling fitter than ever and with a new business helping others to achieve personal weight loss dreams.

Sheila Bolton, who manages Southport as a Team Developer, said: “Slimming World Consultants are chosen for their positive outlook and because they genuinely care about the health and happiness of others.

“With Dee’s experience of being a successful Slimming World member and her kind and warm personality and great sense of humour I know that she’ll be an amazing support to members, cheering them all the way to their target weight.”

Dee’s Slimming World group will be held at Russell Road Methodist Church every Wednesday morning at 9.30 from Wednesday January 4. For more information or to join Dee’s group either pop along on Wednesday January 4 or call her on 07711 566153.
