CUSTOMERS old and new have flocked to a newly reopened Southport pub which was transformed by an extensive refurbishment.

Rueters bar & grill on Hoghton Street reopened its doors last Thursday night (December 8) as guests ventured in to take a look at the changes.

The popular bar and restaurant, a favourite town centre venue for the past two decades, closed suddenly at the start of October.

But local couple Sinclair and Laura d’Albuquerque have brought it back from the brink.

Sinclair and Laura spent four years running the Bold Arms in Churchtown, and the husband and wife are now putting their wealth of experience to good use at Rueters.

Laura said: “We worked for Greene King (pub company) as managers at The Bold, so we had no ties to the building.

“This is the first time we are doing it on our own.”

A lot of staff members from The Bold will be joining them in their new venture.

The pub has undergone a complete refit and looks ‘unrecognisable from before. There is also an entirely new food menu.

Laura continued: “It’s been a lot of hard work, but totally worth it.”

Sinclair added: “It’s been a busy first week, which is great to see and all the feedback we’ve received has been really positive.

“Guests old and new love the refurbishment works, and people seem to be really enjoying the new menu.”
