Christmas Shelter marks a milestone

-

THIS week marks the 25th anniversary of the Southport Christmas Shelter, an important milestone for a local project run entirely by volunteers.

The Shelter will be held at the Alchemy building on Mornington Road from Friday, December 23 for five consecutive days until lunchtime Tuesday, December 27.

A breakfast and a hot lunch will be served each day and the hospitality extends to the homeless, rough sleepers or anyone struggling with money problems at this difficult time. Contributions to continue this work for those worse off than ourselves will help enormously.

Donations can be sent to Tracie Boulton-Lear c/o. Light for Life Housing Centre, 68 Eastbank Street or Canon Dr Rod Garner, Holy Trinity Vicarage, 24 Roe Lane, Southport, PR9 9DX. Cheques should be made payable to Southport Christmas Shelter.

Ken Jones has been the Shelter co-ordinator for many years and remains passionate about the project and its usefulness.

He commented: “Times get no easier for many.

“I hope that supporters, old and new, will help us to share some festive cheer.

“We are always grateful for the generous support of the Southport community.”

Anyone wanting further information on the shelter or how they can help can ring Tracie on 07583 820529.
