Pupils’ entrepreneurial spirit on show at Xmas fair

-

BISHOP David Sheppard CE Primary School on Devonshire Road was a hive of activity after school on December 16 as families gathered for an action packed Christmas fair.

The event was coordinated by the Parent Teacher and Friends Association, and included tombola’s, raffles, lucky dips, art and craft activities, a cake stand, face painting, biscuit icing and many other fun activities. To the delight of the children, Santa was waiting in his grotto and children also made reindeer food to give to Santa’s reindeer on Christmas Eve.

Children from Year 5 also showed their entrepreneurial spirit.

They created their own special gifts to sell to raise money to fund some of the costs of their school trip next year.

Some children from Years 2 and 3 also entertained their guests by singing songs from the nativity at the fair.

Mrs Bayliff, Headteacher said: “We would like to thank everyone that donated items towards the tombola and raffle prizes and baked cakes!

“We would also like to thank all the staff and volunteers that helped out on the day and to thank Santa for taking the time to come along to our school at this very busy time of year! What a wonderful turnout today!

“Thank you to all our local families for supporting our school.

“Over 250 people attended and made the event an outstanding success. Over £1,000 was raised for the school’s PTFA and will be used to provide additional resources for the school and to support the many exciting activities planned for the next year at our school.”
