Pupils treat group to Christmas lunch
BISHOP David Sheppard CE Primary School on Devonshire Road recently hosted an elderly person’s luncheon club at St Simon and St Jude’s church hall.
The project has been funded by celebrate big lottery funding.
More than 40 members of the community gathered to celebrate Christmas.
Not only did they enjoy a delicious Christmas dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, they also enjoyed a Christmas quiz, a free raffle and a stunning performance by children from Year 2 who sang to the guests as the afternoon’s activity came to an end.
There was also a presentation of some beautiful gifts and flowers for Mrs Tarjomi to wish her well for her retirement and to thank her for all her hard work in making the luncheon club possible.
Year 6 then presented their guests with Christingles that they had made as part of their smile challenge.
Organisers thanked David Whitehouse for providing the venue and a host of church volunteers including Miss Gommersall for organising the children’s performance, to the children for singing so beautifully, to Lesley Kirkbride, Tesco’s Community Champion who worked with the children to make Christingles for everyone, and donated some raffle prizes; to Judith and Gina for cooking up such a tasty meal and to all the volunteers at the church who helped make this a memorable occasion.
