App keeps parents in touch at kids’ nursery

-

PARENTS of children at Tibbi Tots Nursery are delighted with new technology that allows them to track their child’s progress at nursery throughout the day.

The technology comes in the form of an app created by ParentZone, an online forum offering advice and information to families and school about Internet safety.

Replacing the nursery’s traditional method of recording the child’s activities and progress on paper at the end of each day, the app now allows parents to log on to see a timeline of photos, videos and observations about their child’s learning, meals, sleep times and nappy changes.

Parents can then add comments with important information they would like the nursery to be aware of.

Jenny, whose son Jake is at Tibbi Tots, said: “Although the Parentzone system has only been in place a few weeks, we already much prefer this new online way of tracking our child’s progress.

“It is reassuring and immediately makes me feel happy that Jake is having a fun time whilst learning.”

Early Years, a charity working to promote high quality childcare, runs regular assessments of nurseries and said that “with ParentZone now in place it will make our assessments even more in-depth and with the opportunity for parent comments, too - we are confident that our children’s learning is improving for the better.”

Tibbi Tots, on Lulworth Road, hopes that the app will work well with parents’ busy lifestyles and allow them to feel part of their children’s day-to-day learning.

The aim is to improve the flow of communication between parents and nursery staff.
