Choc shop set to offer a ‘whirled’ of goodies
ANEW chocolate shop is opening in Southport. Chocolate Whirled will open on Manchester Road, serving up handcrafted Belgian chocolate lollipops, pizzas, sweet-cones and unique gifts.
The store is the brainchild of married Southport couple Laura and Simon Stevens.
Laura said: “We’re really looking forward to opening. Ideally we’d have been opening in a few weeks but due to building hiccups, we’ve had to push it back.
“We wanted the shop stripped right back to the bricks and it’s taken longer than expected.
“The plus side is it will look exactly how we want it to.”
Laura was previously a primary school teacher. She set up Chocolate Whirled in 2012, operating from home. Her two sons, Josh, 9, and Sam, 7, love mum’s job - and are always happy to be ‘testers’ when needed.
Laura continued: “Our main sellers are things like chocolate pizzas and lollipops, but over the last twelve months we’ve seen a huge increase in requests for bespoke items.
“For example, we had one lady about to celebrate her coral wedding anniversary, so we were asked to make chocolate coral.
“We are more than happy to get our creative hats on and will do our best to accommodate any special requests.”
The store will be situated on Manchester Road, near to its junction with Leyland Road. Laura says the store will open in March - just in time for Easter.
