Recycled Christmas yet? Here is where to take the leftovers

-

NOW it is the New Year it’s time to start thinking about where your tree will go once you’ve taken all the decorations down.

Luckily, there are a number of locations across Sefton that will recycle your tree – however some places that recycled trees last year may not be providing the service again this year.

The good news is that the Household Waste Recycling Centres are now back to normal opening hours, so if you’re in a hurry to get rid of the smell of pine needles the waiting is over.

People can take their Christmas tree to the following places: Southport Household Waste Recycling Centre on Foul Lane, Southport PR9 7RG; Formby Household Waste Recycling Centre, on Altcar Road, Formby, L37 8DL; Sefton Meadows on Sefton Lane in Maghull L31 8BX.

Victoria Road in Formby will be open from January 4 to January 22 for a drop-off service on behalf of The National Trust.

St Joseph’s Hospice ( Jospice) in Thornton can be contacted for a drop- off or collection service on 0151 932 6044, for a small donation.

View more details of the Christmas tree collection service on the St Joseph’s Hospice website.

Queenscourt Hospice in Southport is also offering a tree collection service again this year for a small donation on January 14 and January 15.

And for those who last year took their tree to Lifeboat Road in Formby – unfortunately they will not be accepting any Christmas trees this year.
