ACHURCHTOWN woman who shed more than five stone in 11 months has been voted Woman of the Year by her slimming group.

Sue Simpson joined Slimming World Crossens last January after she realised that she had put on a considerable amount of weight.

After she failed to lose weight with home diets, she was persuaded by a friend to join the group.

Sue, who is very proud of her new title said: “The change from feeling like I’m on a diet to following a healthy eating plan is really a big lifestyle change.

“And it has definitely helped me be close to achieving my target weight and feeling fantastic. Looking back now I am so glad I bumped into my friend and went along to Slimming World.”

Sue admitted that she was sceptical that Slimming World would work for her, but said that being in a group meant she gets to hear lots of hints and tips for new meal ideas.

She added: “I was concerned how the group would be as I had never done anything like this before. However, as soon as I walked into group and met Liz the consultant and the other members I felt at ease.

“Then I couldn’t believe how easy I found it. I don’t feel hungry as I can always fill up on all the ‘free food’ and still enjoy my favourite meals.”

The super slimmer said that she can still have her favourite treats, which meant her dieting didn’t have a bad effect on her social life.

She said: “Of course, December, and all the socialising that involves, means I feel really well prepared to cope without damaging my weight loss.”

She said: “I always enjoy staying to the group session but particularly this time of year with all the great supportive and ideas members give each other.

“It helps us all survive the party season.

“When you do come up to a challenging time you know there will always be somebody there who understands and will have a great tip to share.”
