Woman, 37, dies as car crashes into tree
POLICE have named a woman who died in a car crash in Tarleton on Sunday as Agnieszka Cecot, 37, of Southport.
They are continuing to urge witnesses to come forward with any information.
The collision happened shortly before 5.30am on Sunday, January 29 at the junction of Southport New Road and Blackgate Lane on the A565 in Tarleton.
Ms Cecot was driving a Rover 75 when she lost control on a slight left hand bend and the car collided with street signs and a tree.
Fire crews cut her from the car and she was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Ms Cecot was then taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital but died a short time later.
Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The road was closed for about two hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage.
Police had issued warn- ings about icy conditions on the road on Sunday morning, but it is not yet known whether that was a factor in the accident.
Officers say that they are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a foreign registered lorry who stopped at the scene to offer assistance.
Sgt Nigel Ralphson, of the road policing unit, said: “This was a serious collision which has sadly cost a woman her life.
“I would appeal for any witnesses, or anyone with information, to contact police on 101 quoting log number 0329 of Sunday, January 29.”
