THE Bold Hotel in Southport is sending members of staff jetting off on holiday with its employee incentive scheme.

The first winners of the scheme, which is designed to reward staff for their hard work, were announced at an awards ceremony at the hotel on Monday evening.

Joanna Balcius, a member of bar staff at the Bold Hotel and Punch Tarmey’s in Lord Street, was the winner of the first prize after coming out on top of the points scoring system and she will be flying to New York.

The incentive scheme was launched in August and staff were eligible for points depending on several factors, including showing willingness to support the Bold’s ethos, and provide excellent customer service.

Joanna won a threenight trip to New York with her husband, Mantas Balcius, who is a door supervisor at Punch Tarmey’s.

In second place, and winning a trip to Amsterdam, was Tracey Booth who works front of house.

In third place, winning a trip to London was kitchen assistant Tomasz Grosz.

After the awards ceremony, all staff were given tickets to the Service Industry Ball at Southport Theatre and Convention Centre on Monday night to celebrate.

Joanna, who started working at the Bold Hotel in March last year, said: “I am over the moon to have won the trip, I can’t quite believe it.

“But I have worked hard over the last few months and it is amazing that it is recognised in this way.”

She added: “I’ve never been to America before, so I cannot wait.

“The management have really helped me to learn new skills and develop and I am grateful to them for their support.

“There is a great team of staff at the Bold and Punch Tarmey’s and they make going to work very enjoyable.”

Andrew Mikhail, owner of the Bold Hotel and Punch Tarmey’s, said: “We like to reward staff for their hard work when they go above and beyond what is expected of them, so we saw this scheme as an excellent way of monitoring this.

“Joanna has demonstrated her commitment to the company, as have Tracey and Tomasz, through their hard work and willingness to get stuck in. We hope she has a wonderful time in New York – she deserves it!”

The Bold Hotel underwent an extensive refurbishment during the early part of last year and now features 25 en-suite bedrooms.
