Honouring town’s finest
HEROES from Sefton and West Lancashire were celebrated on Wednesday at an illustrious awards ceremony.
We were privileged to share the company of some amazing groups and individuals at our annual Your Heroes Awards at the Ramada Plaza in Southport.
The Mayor of West Lancashire, Cllr Liz Savage, was there to applaud all the recipients, while Sandgrounder DJ Neil Newton hosted the evening.
The event was once again sponsored by the ScottishPower Foundation. Stephen Stewart, director of SP Energy Networks and representing ScottishPower Foundation, presented the awards.
He said: “The ScottishPower Foundation is delighted to sponsor these awards which recognise the tireless work going on within the local community and during the evening we had the opportunity to hear some very moving and inspiring stories about the winners”.
Categories included School of the Year, Young Heroes, Sporting Heroes, Teams and Individuals.
Andrew Brown, editor of the Southport Visiter, the Advertiser Series and Visiter.co.uk said: “I never cease to be amazed by the people who are nomi- nated for our Your Heroes Awards.
“We heard some very moving stories at the Ramada. We heard about acts of courage and acts of kindness.
“But everyone there shared one thing in common – putting others first and going above and beyond to make our local communities a better place for all.
“The Visiter and Advertiser have held our Your Heroes Awards for a number of years now, and they are what our newspapers and website are all about – celebrating great things local people do, and we are now looking forward to next year.
