STAFF at Southport Pleasureland are working round the clock to get the Promenade theme park ready to open to hundreds of thousands of visitors this summer.

A huge scheme of safety checks, refurbishments and decorating are underway to get the park up and running in time for Easter 2017.

Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis and a team of engineers, electricians, builders and painters are working on existing rides, as well as a whole host of new attractions including a brand new set of dodgem cars.

Mr Walis said: “The work never stops. Since we closed for the winter period we have all been working so hard to get Pleasureland ready for the coming season.

“This is not an easy task but it’s all worth it to see families flock here with huge smiles on their faces. The work we do here reflects just how passionate we are about making sure Southport becomes the best seaside resort in the country.

“We are in our tenth year now and each year we have something bigger and better than ever before. 2017 is set to be a bumper year for Pleasureland and Southport.

“We never stop here and nobody quite realises how much work needs to be done during the winter. Come rain, hail, sleet or snow we are here working every day.”

Over the last few months staff have been dismantling rides and carrying out safety checks.
