BLACK and Gold Soul night come to Ormskirk Civic Hall on April 15 at 8pm.

Lancashire based Soul and Motown band Black and Gold are bringing their live show to Ormskirk.

You won’t be able to keep your feet still or your fingers from snapping as this tight, well organised 11 piece band go through their paces with a packed set list of standards from the Motown era, soul classics and Northern Soul favourites.

Come along for a night to remember as they recreate classics from artists such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Arthur Conley, Wilson Pickett, Spanky Wilson, Tina Turner, Sam and Dave.

Vocals, trumpets, saxophone, guitars, keyboard, bass and drums, this massive soul band has it all.

The Hoghton Players, Southport’s NODA nominated Gilbert and Sullivan Society, is proud to announce their next exciting series of Spring concerts to be performed in and around Southport.

Titled “Infernal Nonsense” the concerts are a lightheart­ed look at the way Gilbert and Sullivan explored the “Seven Deadly Sins”.

The concerts feature excerpts from Gilbert and Sullivan’s best loved works, such as Trial by Jury, HMS Pinafore, The Mikado, Ruddigore, The Sorcerer and The Gondoliers.

The voices of The Hoghton Players will explore, in music, themes of Pride, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed and Lust.

A fascinatin­g evening is guaranteed. For the first time, we’ll perform at a new venue, St Marks Church in Scarisbric­k, which we’re looking forward to. The venues and dates for this series of concerts are: April 7, 2017 – St. Mark’s Church, Scarisbric­k, April 8, 2017 – Holy Trinity Church Hall, Southport, April 22, 2017 – Formby United Reformed Church, April 28, – Holy Trinity Church, Tarleton - All concerts commence at 7.30 pm.
