AS the top three and bottom two positions being already decided in Division 1, Holy Trinity A were presented with fourth place after Crosby B disappointingly conceded their match, and at the same time deprived Argyle A of the chance.

Their match at Waddington A had already been put back a week, being rescheduled for the 21st.

Waddington B versus their C team was the only match to put bat to ball and both teams seemed to finish off the season with a very entertaining flourish.

A decisive last week at the top of Division 2, was kick started by Argyle C at home against the ever improving Crosby E. Another great double from Rashad Al Dahiri along with a win from Tony Bramham kept the visitors in it, but with a player short, that was the best they could have probably expected, as wins for Nick Wilson, Ula Kuczek and Jules Dutch helped secure a 7-3 victory. That result sets up a vital match at Holy Trinity C where leaders Argyle D are the visitors, having looked for so long that these two teams would take the top two places?

Could Argyle C gatecrash the party?

Bob Carr to take on Argyle captain Les Lord next, and the tension was certainly being felt by both players as they embarked on a very cagey first game.

Great control and patience took the game beyond 10-10, until Bob made the breakthrough edging it 13-11.

Exactly the same throughout the second, and even further, 12-14 to Les this time to tie it up. More intent shown by Les in the third, but Bob stuck to his guns to take that and the fourth 11-7, 11-6, making it 1-1.

Acting captain Ned Hassan to tackle another immoveable force Les Dodd, and he was at his best playing numerous deft angle drop shots along with some well timed hits, Les winning it in four games, 11-9, 8-11,10-12, 6-11, and Argyle lead again, 1-2.

All square again after Dave Bradley, called up from the D team, overcame Callum Richardson in three straight, before the visitors’ first double pairing of Nick and Les Lord put them back in front, winning in three games over Norman and Bob and at the same time assuring
