ACROWDFUNDING page has been set up to help pay for a Southport woman to receive reconstructive tattoos after her fight with breast cancer.

Jemma Stewart has set up the page to help her friend Kate Huddy, 35.

Jemma said: “We want to raise £350 to help Kate with transport and accommodation to go to London for her tattoos.

“Kate is well known and much loved in Southport; she is kind and supportive and always there for others.

“Several years ago she had to fight breast cancer. Unfortunately she has been left with scars from her battle.’’

“We know of a place down south that is offering a free tattoo service for breast cancer survivors and we know Kate would love for this to be done. Unfortunately, with having a busy family, she does not have the spare cash to get there to have the free service.

“Many of her friends would like to help but on our own we ourselves can- not afford it, so we are hoping if we all work together and donate what we can afford, we can do it.”

The tattoos would provide realistic imitations of areolas and nipples.

Kate said that she had waited three years to have the tattoos and that she thought they would improve her confidence massively after her operations.

She said: “I had no idea Jemma was setting up the funding page, the first thing I said to her was that I felt cheeky asking people for money.

“People are probably thinking ‘why can’t you just get it done on the NHS?’ but it’s not that simple. It takes a lot of time, and even then things can crop up that set you back.”

Many wellwishers have donated and left comments on the funding page.

One said: “Kate, you are an amazingly strong woman. Here’s a little bit to help you along, love and hugs.”

Another added: “Good luck with your journey. Wishing you continued recovery.”
