TAP and Bottles is to hold the second edition of its Southport Beer Street festival later this month.

Beginning on May 19, the three-day festival is set to take place at the Cambridge Arcade bar, in Southport town centre.

Specialising in unique ale, the event boasts it is Southport’s ‘‘best, worst and only cask ale and craft beer festival’.’

Proceedings will begin at 1pm on the Friday and noon the following two days as the festival runs until Sunday night.

Pub manager Luke Randles said: “This is our second year, as last year was a massive success.

“People came from all over because of the beers available and the growing reputation of the place.

“The event is more an expanding of the pub celebration rather than a festival. It will be good for the arcade also and I am hoping everyone will have a great weekend.”

There is no need to book tickets and people are urged to come and go as they please. There is an entry fee of £2.50, but organisers say this will cover all three days of the festival.

Beers are advertised as individually priced and there is also the option to buy tokens.

One major change the festival has made is that there is no fixed amount on the tokens and customers can top up their token sheets for any amount.

There will also be live music and food stalls.
