POLICE have issued CCTV images of two men following a booze burglary at a Polish food store.

Merseyside police wish to speak with the men in connection with the burglary at the Southport shop in March.

Thieves broke into the Smakus food store, in Virginia Street, during the night of Thursday, March 9, and made away with beer and spirits.

The shop had been closed for the night by its owner at 8pm and the theft was not discovered until he opened for business the next morning.

The shop is protected by CCTV cameras and, following extensive inquiries, footage was identified of two men police say they now want to speak to.

Both are believed to be in their 50s.

Det Insp Robbie Moss said: “This is high-quality CCTV and we are keen to speak with the men pictured to assist us in our inquiries.

“If anybody believes they know who these people are, we would like to hear from them.

“At the same time, we would like information from anybody who witnessed suspicious activity around the area of the Smakus store at the time of the offence.

“I want to assure all businesses that we do everything possible to identify offenders who targeted businesses and bring them to justice, and ensure that Southport remains a safe place to live, work and visit.”

Anyone with information about this incident or the men is urged to contact police direct on 0151 777 3846 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
