WESLEY Street traders are inviting locals and tourists to sail down to their seventh annual Street Festival this Saturday.

Joining forces with the Southport Festival for its second year, Wesley Street will be transformed into a cruise ship, and on board there will be a host of beach-themed entertainments and food for all the family between 11am and 4pm on May 6.

The celebrations will include a jellyfish workshop from 11am until 1.30pm, crafts, face painting and entertainment from Punch and Judy.

There will also be Babyballet stars and characters from Playtown at the event, plus much more. Visitors can enjoy a barbecue and ice creams for a treat for all ages.

The popular event has a great turnout each year and is seen as an excellent way of promoting the 22 independent shops and businesses on the street.

A spokesman said: “It is a fun way to promote our wonderful colourful streets to locals and tourists alike.”

Diana Celine Photography owner Diane Pedder, one of the business owners responsible for organising the event, said: “The event is aimed at offering a relaxed environment, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”

People are invited to stay the day and enjoy the atmosphere. They can relax on the artificial grass specially laid for the event, or sit on a deckchair, just as if they are at the beach.
