Star Trekkers aim for record

-

HUNDREDS of people have signed up for the Queenscourt Hospice Star Trekk walk in Southport this Friday (May 19).

But organisers are urging more people to step forward, as they aim for a record event.

A Queenscourt spokesman said: “Last year’s Star Trekk was our biggest to date with over 1,100 walkers and an incredible £88,000 raised for the hospice and, with your help, we’d like to make this year’s event even bigger.

“This year’s event takes place on Friday, May 19 and so far, we’ve had about 700 sign-ups.

“We would love to get to 1,200, but we can’t do that without your help.

“So, please, help us to continue providing the care and support we do in the community, to our patients and their families, and sign up today.”

This year’s seven-mile walk will start at Southport Pleasureland.

Taking part costs £20, which includes a T-shirt, medal, refreshments before the walk and a chocolate treat at the end.

The event is open to men, women and children, as long as they have an adult joining them.

Walkers can check in from 6.30pm, with entertainment from 7pm and the walk starting at 8.30pm.

Before the walk, participants will be entertained by Sandgrounder Radio and live music from The Ballyhoos.
