My secret? Live life to the full and have a nightcap!
ASOUTHPORT woman who loves living life to the full has celebrated her 100th birthday, surrounded by family and friends.
Kathleen Dawson enjoyed her celebration at Lancaster Court in Birkdale as she joined the exclusive centenarians club.
She was delighted to receive a beautiful card and letter from The Queen.
Kathleen was joined by her close relatives including her great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jack, Oscar, Lincoln and Grayson.
Her granddaughter, Lucy Whelan, said: “The party began with Kathleen being entertained by Rob Steele, a local singer, and we sang all her old-time favourites and we danced the afternoon away!
“A beautiful buffet was kindly provided by the staff at Lancaster Court, and a delicious birthday cake was also enjoyed by everyone.”
Kathleen was married at the age of 21 and went on to have three children: Steven, the late Peter, and daughter Alison.
A very talented pastry chef, she worked at Mellors in Lord Street and Claude’s in Churchtown and in the kitchens at Stanley High School and Bishop David Shepherd Primary School.
And she still loves baking to this day.
She also looks forward to her weekly cut and blow dry with Dora at Dora Hair Fashions in Arundel Road, Birkdale, and a pampering session with Hannah at Red Head and Roses in Hesketh Drive
Lucy said: “Kathleen is fine, happy, and loves to see her great grand children,
“Her secrets to living past 100? Living life to the full and a nightcap of whisky!”
