Stop and remember nights out of the past

-

WERE you a Dirty Stop Out in the 1970s? The writer of a new book about nights out in the past certainly hopes so.

The era defined by glam rock, industrial action and the rise of punk, is set to be immortalised in a new book by writer Jade Wright.

She is keen to include as many memories, photos and memorabilia as possible.

The Dirty Stop Outs’ Guide will celebrate the era that saw the closure of The Cavern and the birth of a whole new style of music in the area.

Did you trip the light fantastic at Tiffany’s in Ainsdale, or steal a kiss on the River Caves boat ride at Pleasureland?

Do you remember the Northern Soul half-hour at the Dixieland on Monday nights?

Or maybe you got the train to Liverpool and danced to The Real Thing as disco fever swept the country, and the clubs of Liverpool.

If so, Jade wants to know about it.

The Dirty Stop Out’s Guide series has already proved a massive hit in Sheffield – one volume even persuaded a couple to remarry after nearly 30 years apart!

Jade said: “I’m delighted that Merseyside is now getting the Dirty Stop Out treatment – where better when it comes to music, fashion and a love of going out?

“There was so much going on across Merseyside – in Liverpool but also in Southport, Formby, Crosby and all the areas around and I really want to get that right, by including memories from people who were there, and have the T Shirt, so to speak.

“This is a people’s history, looking at the decade through the eyes of those who lived it – flares and all.
