AFAMILY have paid their respects to their 83-year-old “queen” who died recently.

Brenda Quinn, a mother to nine children, a grandmother, and a great grandmother, died on Saturday, June 17 at 2.45am after a short illness at Southport Hospital.

Mrs Quinn, who was born and lived in High Park and lived on Wavell Avenue, will be remembered for her tendency “not to sugar coat things.”

Heather Stansfield, the partner of Mrs Quinn’s grandson, Mark, said: “She never sugar coated anything, she said exactly what she thought.

“She was hilarious, a real character.”

Mrs Quinna’s death comes two years after the death of her husband, Patrick, to whom she had been married for 59 years.

Chris Quinn, her son, said: “We are going to miss this great lady. Brenda Quinn, our mum.

“Rest in peace now you are with your soul mate, Patrick, you can hold hands once more.”

She was a regular attendee of the Devonshire Club – owned by her son – where she would play bingo once a week.

Mrs Quinn, who has been described as the “queen of the family”, was also a big part of the High Park community and will be greatly missed.

Katie Quinn, her granddaughter, said: “She was a brilliant nan, and a very brilliant great grandmother to my children.

“She was so witty and I could never leave her house without my sides hurting from laughing. She will be missed very much.”

The funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday, June 30) at Southport crematorium at 10.40am, followed by a wake at the Devonshire Club.

The family have asked for any donations to be made to the Queenscourt Hospice.
