PLEASURELAND Southport is holding a Funky Beer Festival this week- end.

The festival will take place from Friday, June 30 until Sunday, July 2.

A large variety of drinks will be on offer, including more than 100 craft beers, ciders, a gin bar – and even a prosecco bar.

In addition, various entertainment will be held each day of the event including vocal artists and a magic show, and there will also be food on offer.

The event is to be held in the Casablanca venue and, weather permitting, there will also be outside space for drinkers.

Norman Wallis, managing director of Pleasureland Southport, said: “I don’t know many people who don’t like beer and a good time – so this event should be good fun for everyone.

“We have a great range of beers, and even prosecco for the ladies. It will be a great event.”

Each day of the event offers different entertainment and opening times.

On Friday entry is free and the event will begin at 2.30pm.

The event being held on Friday is in part to celebrate Sand- grounder Radio’s first birthday and it is a great opportunity to welcome everyone from the town.

It is hoped that business owners and members of Southport BID will be in attendance.

Saturday’s event is a party night and will be running from noon until late, featuring live music and a DJ.

Tickets are needed to gain entry on Saturday, and can be purchased online for £10 plus booking fee, which includes entry and your first two pints of house beer.

Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on the door and will cost £15.

The last day, Sunday, will run from noon until early evening and tickets for £5 will be available to purchase on the door.
