APOPULAR pub in Tarleton is to undergo a £1m transformation. The refurbishment will be a complete modernisation of the interior and exterior of the Cock and Bottle in Church Road.

It will be one of the biggest pub investment projects for Thwaites, in partnership with Fayre Inns, which runs successful pubs such as The Ship at Caton and The Hunters at Lostock Hall.

Customers will see the difference at The Cock and Bottle as soon as they enter.

The function suite will be turned into an open plan family dining space and the lobby will become a glazed seating area.

There will be an open beam ceiling, log burning stove and booth-style seating.

New features are also being added, including a bakery-patisserie-coffee sta- tion, a front beer garden and a breakfast menu.

Steven Greenhalf, from Fayre Inns said, “I’m so excited about this refurbishment. The pub has been in Tarleton for many, many years and it is going to be fantastic to see such an investment in the building.

“We want the pub to be at the heart of the community and with this development we think people are going to really enjoy visiting it.”

The Cock and Bottle will be closing next Monday ( July 24), and will reopen with its new look in October.

The director of pubs and brewing at Daniel Thwaites, Andrew Buchanan, said: “It’s going to be great working with Fayre Inns on this investment project.

“We already have a number of very successful pubs that we have developed with them, including The Hunters in Lostock Hall.

“The refurbishment will breathe new life into the pub – it’s going to look fantastic and I can’t wait to see the transformation.“
