What’s On

-

THERE will be fun for the whole family at the Green Fayre at Beacon Country Park, Skelmersdale, on Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23.

The free extravaganza will be open from 11am to 5pm each day with a wide range of attractions on offer.

The show is centred on wonderful working woodlands and craft areas where exhibitors and traders showcase a wide range of traditional crafts and techniques, working natural materials into tools and objects used in everyday life.

Displays will include chainsaw carving, willow weaving, basket making, wheelwrighting, saw-milling, pole-lathe turning and many more.

The show arena will be full of entertainment.

The Cavalry of Heroes, Cheshire Falconry, and the Wirral Viking group known as Wirhalh Skip Felagr will offer displays of jousting, stunt riding, birds of prey and battle re-enactments.

The Retired Greyhound Trust will also be running a charity dog show each afternoon, so why not enter your dog into one of the categories on the morning, for a chance to win a prize?

As well as the arena displays there will be an extensive petting farm and donkey rides, allowing you to get up close and find out more about a variety of different animals.

Visitors can take a step back in time by walking through the superb Viking encampment. Experience the sights, smells and sounds of Viking life in the show’s authentic tented village and find out more by talking to the villagers.

The folk marquee is always an extremely popular attraction at the Green Fayre and there will be a range of local acts providing music for your enjoyment.

And a wide variety of activities for younger visitors include a climbing wall, caving unit, archery, air rifle shooting, bushcraft and survival skills, bouncy castles, trampolines and a small traditional funfair.

It’s all at Beacon Country Park, Beacon Lane, Up Holland, WN8 7RU.
