ASOUTHPORT man who claims to have taught Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is on Interpol’s list of the 25 most wanted British fugitives.

Paul Meekin, 43, is wanted in India on charges of cruelty to a juvenile or child, and publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form.

Originally from Southport, he was headmaster at an international school in Bengaluru when he was accused of sexually harassing a 13-year-old student.

Police claim he sent lewd messages to a boy over social media.

When he was arrested in January 2012 he was headteacher at the £1,000-a-term Trio World School in Bangalore, an international school used by British expats.

A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to turn up at court last April.

Meekin, who speaks English, Arabic and Korean, then fled to Kuwait, where he got a job at a school teach- ing social studies, according to the Mirror.

Meekin fled there amid claims that he posted lewd comments on the pupil’s Facebook page. He was sacked after the boy’s American parents complained. It later emerged that his qualifications were bogus.

In 2011, Meekin reportedly told an Indian newspaper: “I taught him (Radcliffe) science. I remember him as a very happy kid, sitting in one of those middle rows, third from the back.”

It is unclear if he did teach the actor or not.
