THE Southport Flower Show opens next week and we have TEN pairs of tickets to be won by lucky readers.

More than 50,000 visitors are expected to flock to Victoria Park for the show, which has been a highlight of Southport’s summer calendar for over 80 years.

This year, the event is to be opened by TV gardener Charlie Dimmock and will feature a host of famous names including Countryfile presenter John Craven.

For younger visitors there are performances by children’s television stars Justin Fletcher, aka Mr Tumble, and Ben Faulks, who is better known as Mr Bloom on CBeebies.

And guests can also hear from a potful of celebrity growers passing on their garden tips, including David Domoney, Christine Walkden, Carol Klein and Pippa Greenwood.

Southport is the largest independent flower show in the UK and is known for its high quality display gardens, amateur grower competitions and the spectacular blooms in the Grand Floral Marquee.

Kids go free to the show and there is a growing programme of chil- dren’s entertainment including the interactive marquee with Minevention.

The Southport Flower Show runs for four days in Victoria Park from Thursday August 17 to Sunday August 20.

This year, the Southport Visiter has ten pairs of tickets to be won in our exclusive competition.

For a chance to win, just answer this question:

What was the name of the hit BBC gardening programme of the 1990s presented by Charlie Dimmock alongside Alan Titchmarsh and Tommy Walsh?

Email your answer to visiternews@ southportvisiter. co. uk with the subject Flower Show Comp, along with your name, address and a contact number.

Competition will close this Sunday (August 13) at 5pm.

Winners will be notified Monday morning.
