Southport Visiter

One of Merseyside’s biggest names at LOL Comedy Club

THE region has a history for producing some of the country’s finest comedy talent, and Jamie Sutherland can now be added to that fine list.

Jamie is a modern act with many observational topics and up-to-date material, and don’t worry if you prefer a good old-style gag – he has plenty of them thrown in, ensuring a performance that will touch everyone’s buttons.

Sutherland is one of only a few comics that can tailor his performance to suit your audience, extremely popular with corporate clients, and he’s equally at home performing to crowds at his nearby social club.

“Sutherland combines the two style of observational and storytelling, and really is very funny” – The Stage

“Undeniably brilliant” – Chortle

Mark Smith might have the plainest name in all of com- edy but that works in his favour when his timing and delivery as a comic are to die for.

As a result his TV appearances include: Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3), writing and appearing as a regular in Nick Helm’s Heavy Entertainment (BBC3) and presenting for Gonzo (MTV2).

He has also just finished three episodes of his new web series Mark Smith vs the People which is definitely worth a watch!

“Gleeful wordplay… obvious talent… a keen eye for untapped sources of funny” – Chortle

Allyson Smith has, from the moment she put down the chalk in 2000 and picked up a mic, been tickling Canada’s comedy scene to great acclaim.

Playing to packed rooms has become like another day in the classroom for this former schoolteacher.

Her credits, to name a few, include her own hour long Comedy Now special, appearances on BBC Radio’s hit show The Debaters, the Winnipeg, and Just For Laughs Festivals.

A multiple Canadian Comedy Award nominee for best female stand-up, Allyson is now making waves in the UK where her sassy stand-up and hilariously insightful commentary is going down a treat.

“Reminds me of a younger, prettier, funnier me” – Stewart Francis

Your MC is Chris Washington who has that indefinable something that makes you feel like your watching your best and most amusing friend – only funnier!

LOL Comedy Club comes to the Atkinson on Saturday, September 2. All line-ups are subject to change, but don’t worry, we’ll replace them with someone twice as funny!
